Update on March 26, 2026, at 12:00PM PT: Today, we are sharing exciting updates for our next-gen data center in El Paso, Texas, which will now officially grow to 1 gigawatt and equip us with the advanced infrastructure necessary to help bring our technologies to life.
First, we are increasing our initial $1.5 billion investment to more than $10 billion, and we’ll support more than 300 operational jobs at the data center once it is complete. As construction grows, we anticipate supporting more than 4,000 construction jobs at peak.
Next, we are furthering our commitment to investing in the long-term vitality of the El Paso community by supporting a new workforce development effort, in partnership with El Paso Public Schools, with a $500,000 grant. This partnership will help area students explore career paths ranging from STEM to trade professions, and connect them with practical, real-world learning experience for in-demand skills.
We are also excited to share that our partnership with nonprofit DigDeep is delivering results. More than 100 homes in El Paso will have clean, running water for the first time in the near future because of our collaboration. In addition, we are collaborating with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation on new water restoration projects that will provide irrigation technology to local farmers that will help them minimize water withdrawal, save energy, and reduce costs — restoring millions of gallons of water each year.
We plan to use a water-efficient closed-loop system to cool our El Paso data center, which recirculates the same water so that there is no operational water use for a majority of the year.
